Ozone is an electronic sanitizer for your hot tub, Generally Ozones need replacing about one every 3 years. There are two types, uv and corona discharge. Older hot tubs tent to have uv ozones these use a uv light bulb. We recomend if you need to replace your ozone you replace it with a corona discharge as these are much more reliable and efficent.
Many people will not know their ozone has failed as the stream of bubbles comming from the bottom of the tub will still be present even if the ozone has failed. The only way you know if ozone is present is by doing a test using one of our testers.
Sometime people are aware of their ozone failing as the hot tub trips out the electrics (RCD) in the house. They only way you can tell is to unplug the ozone and try the tub again, as the ozone usually comes on at the same time as the heater (another common cause of hot tubs tripping out, moreso than ozones)

Ozone or o3 its chemicals name is a naturally occurring element in the outer atmosphere. Ozone is one of the most effective sanitizer on the planet killing contaminates like bacteria, virus, cysts. An Ozonator will oxidize oils and other contaminants in your hot tub and organic chemicals are broken down into much safer elements. During the ozonation process, some compounds like ammonia and cyanide that are in your hot tub are broken down into nitrogen and water or other safe compounds. The main by-product after oxidation is oxygen which we all breath to survive. Ozonation does not change the pH, nor does it react with the remaining organics in your hot tubs water. Ozone is 3,125 time faster than chlorine on bacteria and 50 percent stronger oxidizer than chlorine. Ozone also oxidizes iron, manganese, heavy metals, sulfide and nitrite types into insoluble types, which can then be removed by the filtration system in your hot tub. There is no unpleasant chemical taste or smell from ozone and dissolved in water will not burn your nose, irritate your skin, ears, dry out your skin or leave a chemical film on your hot tub. Having an ozonator in your hot tub will not stop the need for chlorine all together however it will reduce the amount need. By adding an ozonator to your hot tub will easily pay for itself in reduced chemical bills in the long run. By buying an ozone generator or ozonator for your hot tub will minimise the risk to you, your family and friend when using a hot tub.
| How it works in practice: | Ozone works either on a timed cycle or during the filter cycle, some hot tubs are however fitted with a 24 hour circulation pump and will This Ozone activates, usually during a pre-programmed filter cycle, some Hot Tubs have a 24hr circulation and Ozone mode. We recommend that your Ozone should run no more than 6 to 8 hours per day. The unit does not blow air, it is induce through a venturi system. In most hot tubs their is usually an ozone jet or a couple of ozone jets. This will bubble a stream of ozone into the hot tub. Care should be taken to regularly remove the hot tub cover as a build up of ozone under the cover will attack the plastics. |

| Connections / Fixings: | Installed at high level inside the spa or hot tub cabinet normally screwed to an upright wood post or on the back of a pannel. All ozones must have a tripple air loop to prevent water going back into the ozone this is tied above the water line. You should also install a one way valve onto the Ozone pipe which is clear and is pushed onto Ozone unit without mechanical or glue connection as the connection is barbed. |
| Additional notes: | Some units are available with replacable chips. Chips or whole units will need replacing every 2 -3 years. To establish if your ozone is working you will need an ozone test kit. |
