The filter has to be the most important part of your spa or hot tub. Its purpose is to filter out solid organic material that can not be removed throught the use of chemicals. Generally hot tub filters take out material down to 5 microns. The filters ability will depend on how many "square foot" of filtration it has, but will be sized correctly by the hot tubs manufacturer to ensure adiquate water quality.
Hot Tub Filter Cleaning
Generally filters should be cleaned as a minium one every 3 weeks using a suitable hot tub filter cleaner and preferably using a waterwand filter attachement for your hose. Filters should never be pressure washed as this will break the fibres down very quickly. The filter should also be left to dry after cleaning to ensure its maximum life span. If you do not allow it to dry the fibres in it will go very hairy very quickly and hold bacteria very easilty.
If your filter is starting to look a bit hairy
or dirty and it time for a new one please select your brand from
the filter finder above. Selected filters are producted with Microban antibacterial protection.
